Collapsible COVID Shield
A clear plastic divider meant to allow people to safely dine together without the worry of COVID transmission. This project focused on the portability of the shield to corner the untapped market of people wanting to enjoy food in a non-restaurant setting during the height of the pandemic. Designed as a part of the Mechanical Engineering 185 (Mechanical Design) course.
Features
Custom 3D-printed linear slides with ball bearings. Multiple iterations were necessary to approach the right tolerance given the roughness of the 3D-printed surface

Spring-loaded stabilizing legs designed to lock the spring loaded linear slides in place for storage. This allows a one step deployment of the shield
Bistable hinges for the base to allow the shield to fold in a z shape for storage but stay locked in the open position when in use
